Business R&D expenditure in information industries as a share of GDP

Research and development (R&D), especially in information industries, is a key driver of digital innovation. This indicator measures business expenditure on R&D (BERD) performed by businesses in information industries, irrespective of funding source, as a share of gross domestic product (GDP). It provides a measure of the relative R&D intensity of information industries across countries (see notes).
