Description
Young people today interact in a range of digital environments, from browsing the Internet to playing interactive video games to connecting with their peers on social media platforms. While these activities offer opportunities for learning, entertainment and social interaction, intensive use (more than 3 hours per day) raises concerns about young people’s well-being and academic performance. This indicator shows how intensively 15-year-old students engage in different digital leisure activities, including social media, and how their use relates to performance in mathematics, reading, science and creative thinking on the OECD PISA assessment (see notes).
